ANTH 210-Biological Anthropology and Lab
This is a survey course of biological anthropology that links concepts to hands-on experience in lab
This upper-division course has students link past and present patterns of health. Students lead whole-class discussions, and give an oral presentation linking service learning experiences to classroom concepts.
ANTH 225-From the Grave: Fundamentals of Forensic Anthropology
This course takes a hands-on approach to students interested in getting an introduction to forensic anthropology methods
ANTH 325-Death Investigation: Forensic Anthropology Methods
This is an upper-division course designed to allow students a deeper exploration of forensic anthropology and osteology methods.
ANTH 350-Forensic Anthropology Field School
This hands-on summer field school has students investigate a crime scene, dig a clandestine grave, write a case report, and serve as an expert witness.
Current Courses Taught
Special Problems in Master's of Oral Biology III and IV
These two courses are designed for second-year Master's students. Students give a professional poster presentation of their research and lead discussion of current papers.
General Histology for Dental Students
This course provides an in depth exploration of basic tissues and organ systems through histology.
This course focuses on histology of human craniofacial ontology and odontology, and provides case-based content about adult tooth structures.
Teaching Workshops Developed
Beyond Busywork: Crafting Assignments That Drive Student Learning
This workshop uses the theory of learning design to develop assignments that assess learning rather than just performance.
This workshop was designed as part of the New Faculty Orientation at Creighton. Participants learn best practices for creating clearly communicated, student-focused syllabi.
The Secret Sauce: Connecting Course Objectives, Learning Activities, and Assessments
This workshop, designed in conjunction with a General Dentistry Faculty Member, goes through the importance of course objectives and best practices for writing effective, measurable objectives.
Designing with Purpose: Foundations for Creating a Course of Any Modality
This workshop was designed in collaboration with the Director of e-Learning at Creighton to provide best-practice in designing a course from the ground up.
